I have a 5 foot piece of dritwood manzita. Its starting to develop brownish gray colored "hair" all over it. Is this safe or should i scrub it off. Water p quality is fine what is this stuff

IDK i also have some hair stuff growing on some of my driftwood. When i put feeder goldfish in the tank they eat on it. I would like to know too.

It seems very natural and i kinda like it just wanna make sure its safe. My current stock pay it no attention at all

search black brush algae. its safe for the fish but, ive read that it can get out of control. i have controlled it with manual removal during water changes and decreased lighting. i also like the natural look but dont want it to go crazy and plug filters and such.

Thank you! I have had this in two of my tanks now for about 3-4 years now and have never been able to find out what this stuff is called.
