quick Eheim 2260 question

I'm setting one up on my mom's 125 right now (more details on that to come) and I'm in the middle of filling it w/ media. I got 5L of Ehfimech and 15L Ehfisubstrat. Well, turns out that's more than I need if I follow the instructions w/ the filter (and the place I got it from also said to add 5L of ehfifix to the top). So, I come to my questions. Do I need the lattice screen on the bottom? That pretty much addresses my 2 concerns about putting media under the lattice screen and making more room. Thanks!

I decided to just take some of the substrat out and I was only able to use 4L of the mech.

Yes, you need to install one lattice screen on the bottom, with the legs down, and one lattice screen on the very top of your media, with the legs facing up.

thanks. I just realized I put the top latice in upside down, but I fixed it. This XP3 is rated at 350 GPH vs the 500 of the 2260 and the 2260 outlet feels like it's putting out 2-3 times what the XP3 outlet is. I am aware that the XP3 puts out nowhere near 350.
