I have upgraded my snapper tank "Will Biteyourass Guidry". It was a 10gal now its a 20gal (24"x12"x16"tall). I also went from a dueto 100 to a eheim 2213 and now im redoing the lights.

I am going to get this 24" light strip that holds 3 bulbs

I need to know what bulbs to put in there. The 3 possible ones im looking at are:

The 10.0...it says for desert species but what I like is it says its good for up to 20" away. My snapper NEVER has ever come out of the water to bask so im guessing this one would give him what he needs while he is in the water.

Then this is the 5.0 and it says its good for tropicle rain forest type things and is good for up to 12" away, but the tank is 16" tall

This is the 2.0 so not very much UVB but it says it has a high CRI for the color and more visual light out put so its a good match with the other 2 for more light.

My thought is the 10.0 in the middle spot and two 2.0's on the outer end.

So what do yall think would that work for the snapper that never comes out of the water?

I would like to run out in a little bit to pick this up so anyone have a quick reply?

He doesn't bask...I tried...set up some spots for him to get out and never even tried that I have seen. It is in my office so I am next to it from 8-5 m-f. I never had a heat lamp either...I have a heater in the tank keeping it about 72-75.

Hmm ok well then maybe i'll just get the smaller light strip that holds 2 bulbs and get two 2.0's. I used to keep hornwart in there since he didnt really eat it and it would help with green water since its by a window. I took it out becasue it would clog up the little dueto filter. Well needless to say I have been fighting green water ever since so now that I have a much larger filter I am going to put the hornwart back in....and I want the 2.0's to help it thrive to out do the green water syndrom.

Thanks again yall....i'll post some updated pics once its cycled and cleard up...he probably has put on a inch or more in shell length since we found him...not to mention his hesd is much thicker.

Green water syndrom? What kind of filter do you have in the tank? Why would the water be green?

He said its in his office. Wouldn't natural sunlight cause that?

Or am I off-base here....
