ok i just filled up a 180 that i got and i noticed that on the front right corner the seal has a problem. It is about 14 inches from the bottom and goes to the top. The tank is not leaking but I fear a leak or worse yet a blowout. Even if i drain it down and out silicone over the affected area i can prolly stop the leak...but what if the main seal is bad ?? I am guessing i will still chance a blow out ? question...can i use a piece of glass thats about 2 inches by 24 and silicone it into the corner ? I am thinking this would both stop the leak and prevent the main seam from giving way. Is my thinking correct or am I wrong. I really don want or have the time to pull the whole front off and reseal it. If i have to them i have to, but would this idea fix the problem ?? here is 2 pics but they are not the greatest..

the frame is fine, but the frame is just the little black thing around the top and bottom, im talking about the entire right front of the tank thats connected to the side of the tank. i know the little black frames on the top and bottom are not going to keep the front of the tank from blowing off. maybe i dont understand what your saying ??

does the glass bend in to the frame at the top? The frame is your support. if the glass is outside the frame then you need to reset the frame

ummm im alittle lost here to but ill sy that the silicone is ther to hold the water from leaking out i believe.

while the frame /molding holds the glass together

ok better question... is the glass straight? it looks like it is pulling away .. or is this just a bubble between the glass? the pick is hard to see this..

The seal is a seal; the frame holds it together. How's theframe?

Actually, the silicone both seals and structurally holds it all together. The plastic frame serves other purposes like holding it together while the silicone cures and holding the glass bottom up off the stand to avoid point loads.

There is no way that little plastic strip will prevent a blowout!

ok i just filled up a 180 that i got ...

New or used? If new, I would consider this a manufacturing defect and have it replaced. If it's used and you don't want to reseal it, I would at least fill it outside and let it sit for a few days to see if anything happens.

well it's a used tank, and from what i can tell the front right corner is the only problem area, there was water getting between the front glass and the side glass ( within the seal ) so while is was not gettiing past the silicone on the outside i am sure sooner or later it would leak and probably let go all the way to the bottom and cause the front to blow out. instead of pulling the entire tank apart, or at least the front off, i siliconed another piece of 1/2 inch glass into the corner...unless i am crazy ?? this will fix the leak and prevent the front from being able to give out ??

Looks good.

Overkill perhaps, re-sealing should have done it, now with a better understanding of the issue. Sorry for the earlier confusion.

I think you'll be fine..
