quick lighting advice

i have a 30g hex 20" tall i have a chance to get a 150w mh hqi is this too much light/heat? thnx

It will probably be a little intense near the surface, but that is a good deal - depending on the quality and condition of the fixture.

20" depth is actually about right for a 150watt mh. You just have to watch your temps.
