My glass aquarium has 3/4 inch thick glass. Does anyone know if the magfloat 350 is strong enough for that thickness. The price of the next size up (the magfloat XL) is $130 and up. So trying to save a few dollars

Guess I gotta get the XL

Do you need to have your lights on long enough for algal growth on the glass to be an issue?

Given the price, have you considered the Flipper? The one downside is that it doesn't float for those rare cases. The "razor" side comes in handy just be careful.

I find even with light on for only a 4 hours a day for viewing fish, you still have slight film spots around the tank. Based on where you tank is that also plays a factor in terms of growth AND how clean you want it looking. For example, in a basement vs. In the living room.

Oh of course the location of the tank is a big factor.I have not had any of my tanks in a well lit room in years, they are all in the basement which is dim due to the small windows that provide light when the ceiling lights are not on.I rarely run the tank lights so needless to say, algae is not an issue with my tanks.
