Giant Danios

They are fast, and are the biggest danios...plus they make the tank lively. In my case, Oscars are too slow to catch them.

If you want bigger.....Silver dollars and Tin Foil barbs have quick reflexes. Non-fish keepers will think you have Piranhas :screwy:

I used to get tinfoil barbs as my dither fish, great dither fish but they eat all my expensive plants. Giant danios are also great, and dont eat plants. Right now Im using a more expensive dither fish, the Congo tetra, it looks nice and its fairly aggressive towards the other dithers.

Large, tinfoils, balas, and redhooks,
small, mixed cheap tetras.

I've been conducting an experiment of sorts in my 125. I noticed how similar Buenos Aires Tetras are in apperance to Tin Foil Barbs, so on a whim I threw 5 in that were in a tank I was clearing out. My dominant O chowed down on one, but the other 4 were ok. The O's are gone now, and I'm thinking of adding at least 10 more BATs to make a nice, quick moving shoal.

I have BAT...I like them a lot and they do make great smaller dithers. They remind me of a fish known as a rudd...very much like golden shiners only with red fins.

My favorite dither NOW is the pacu Myleus schomburgkii... But I like Leporinus spp., Schizodon spp., Fei Feng (love them...), Hemiodus spp.. Mainly SA fishes, to live with my SA/ CA cichlids.
BTW, I have 3 of these pacus in my tank now. ;)

Best regards.

Daniel.
