What do yall do if you have to set up a quarantine tank for a fish but don’t have it ready for him? I believe I read something about using seachem stability before.

I always have an extra filter or two on some tanks i can use. Then i fill up the qt tank with about 30-40% water from a tank i know is healthy and fill up the rest with new water. By doing that i start up the qt tank quickly like im doing a big wc.

I do something very similar. If I don't have an established filter ready then I'll grab a small handful of media out of each of my three display tanks, as well as a handful of substrate from each and a bit of wood, fake plant or a rock (something that I can boil after its been in the QT tank) to help it along. Haven't had any problems so far doing it like this.

It is extra handy to have cycled filters ready to go in emergencies though and I'd recommend trying to keep at least one extra filter somewhere, ready to be moved at the drop of a hat.

Disclaimer: I do not know everything, nor do I claim to. This is what has worked for me in my tanks - what works for me may not work for you. :)

I would dip the fish if no option to qt. Use a dip of salt, prazipro and methylene blue.

I’m sure u can get a plastic tote from Walmart and some bagged media to do a qt tank.

Adding old tank water will do nothing to help establish this qt.

Ive set up qt with nothing more than some small bags of established bio and an air pump. A you need is to circulate the water (air pump) it doesnt have to be pretty.

Power head or internal filter will work as well

Just take an empty internal filter, grab some ceramics from a cycled filter and chuck it in. Easy peasy.

Always have extra media available, makes setting up of new tanks a breeze.
