So right now I have a batch in a 10 gallon tank that resemble essentially little baby angels..just starting to show their colour. I have the third batch(10 days younger ) in the same tank but they are in a breeding net(one of those mesh square box looking things). Anyway..I bought another 10 gallon and I want to move the younger fry or older fry over..whichever seems to make more sense. I have a sponge filter going and a hang on the back filter going(with a sponge attached to the intake tube to prevent fry from getting sucked up).
The hang on the back filter I took from an established tank, I have several on different tanks specifically for this purpose..incase another tanks filter breaks..ect...as back up. In this case I ended up needing it as I made a Methalyn blue rookie mistake and it killed all the benfical bacteria in the 10 gallon tank.
This tank has been going for about 2 months or so now...I've been doing about 40-50% water changes every other day, as with the feeding schedual and that many fry in a small tank...I'm going to continue to do this to both tanks unless someone suggests otherwise.
My question is, can I move the established hang on the back filter over to the 10 gallon tank I'm about to set up and move the older fry to that tank. This would leave the smaller fry with the sponge filter.(Which has been going for the 2 months the tank's been set up)
Or is there another way to do this...I just want to seperate them so I can take the fry out of that mesh box and let them swim around the tank...
Sorry for the rant..input really appreciated.
