I'm about to reseal my 110 gallon (6 ft) tank. Do I need to cut out the old sealant first, or can I reseal on the existing sealant? I've read that both can be done, so what will work better to ensure that I won't have any leaks?

cut it out and remove all residue. it will make your life easier and will look much cleaner. its not that difficult to do either. sharp razor blade and gasoline on a rag for residue works for me
