i have my baby female retic in a 40gal with 2 baby ocars right now. but i think they keep nibbling at her tail. i was wodering if i had enough filtration with no substrate on a 10gal standard tank. could she be okay in this tank for a while? i also want her alone so i can get her feeding. she's only about 3" disc. i jus dont want her gettin picked on and the tank i want her in has 3 huge gars n im sure they'll devour her at her size.

so, 10gal with more then enough filtration so i can get her feeding and back to normal health? bad idea? okay for a lil while? i dont have any spare 30-50gal tanks n i wanna move her asap. thanks

Why don't you leave the ray where it is and move the oscars?

^^^really^^^......do not put her in a 10 gallon that is way way way to small...if you have to buy a rubbermaid tub and throw a filter on it...

just dont put her in a 10 gallon that is tiny for any sized ray

:iagree:

because the 40gal oscar tank isn't mine, its my lil brothers. i was jus using it for my baby ray because the oscar tank already has sand for substrate, and the ray was smaller then i thought it was gonna be so i dont wanna put it in my 150 with monster gars that could possibly eat her. or eat all possible food b4 she gets to it.

do not by 4 more rays, an 150 isent enough for 1 full grown ray as it is.. But if i was you, i wouldent buy fish till im 100% ready. Ask your bro if u can leave the ray in his tank for a week or so just till it gets feeding. and move those oscars.

Give him $20 for the oscars and toss em in the 150 for now. They may or may not get eaten and if they dont then you get lucky and can get your $20 bucks back and give em back to your brother.

actually im gonna keep my ray, and buy 4 more. thanks for your help anyway

Thats mature.

You asked for help on tank size. You were told a 10 gallon is too small for 1 (even temporarily) now you're going to buy 4 more?

Why did you ask for help in the first place???

If you arent willing to at least go out and get a rubbermaid to hold her unil she is ready, then MAYBE.... JUST MAYBE,
you ARENT ready for rays.
Sometimes the truth hurts.
