Quick question on Shellies

I just set up a 20 long for some lamp. meleagris/stappersi ( i have seen them use both names)
I was gonna order them later in the week with the rest of the fish my manager is ordering
so how many should i have for the long run im thinking i should have 6 at least now to grow some out and get a few pairs
any input?

start out with the larger amount if your looking for pairs but becareful with aggression ..... many shellies do god with the herem approach though so keep that in mind as well .... all in all though awesome fish with great personalities

yea i was thinking of a harem lower the aggression i have a ton of shells and stuff so i dont think it will be a problem

i agree with the larger amount and the aggression will be spreaded out. so youll be fine! just make sure theres more than enough shells and try to make borders or terrorities. post some pics when you got it all set up! shellies are cool . i myself have some ocellatus blues.

What do you mean by intermix? If you mean breed, I wouldnt.
