quick question on sump wise

Let say i got 900 GPH overflow, how strong would i need my pump? I got a rio 2100 is that stron enough or i need bigger pump?

also i have 450GPH how strong would my pump would be? I got a few different size of rio pump.

just finished custom made my 40g breeder tank as a sump.

The pump should not move as much water as the overflow can.

Calculate the head resistance of your pump for a true GPH. That should be slightly less than the overflow capacity.

all rio pump i have a adjustable valve so i should be all set with rio2100 as capacity of 200gallon 900GPH?
