I have had my BGK for 4 years now I bought he/she at about 1 1/2 - 2in and is now 14in long. Given good living conditions how long should I expect a BGK to live for. I have searched many web sites for this info but have so far been unsuccessful.

Cheers

probably around 10 years. I really want pics too. :)

Curious why around 10 years when it was only 1 1/2 to 2 in 4 years ago.

I will try and take a picture of it tonight, but as I suck at taking pictures and casper (that is the name my kids gave it) is not very co-operative, the only time it stops moving is when it is in its hiding spot.

Cheers

I think I read somewhere that they can live up to 20 years.

My understanding is that they can live up to 30 years. Mine is 16 years of age but only 12" in length (maybe 13). He is really active and bombs around day and night now. We take no risks with him...no aggressive fish are ever near him thus no nips at his skin etc allowing room for infection and who knows what. He only eats frozen blood worms and pellets.
