Hi all, I have a tea cup stingray, and just bought a new one he's about 8 inches round, question...i have figi sand in the tank right now and they seem to like playing in it but...is that the best thing or is a bare tank the best............

Sand is fine for rays. Bare bottom is fine as well. It is all really personal preference and the aspect of cleaning the tank. A bare bottom is easier to clean.
I personally use sand. I like the look and the maintanece of cleaning it doesn't bother me. Whether you want to keep sand or not is up to you.
I don't know anything about the sand you have though. Just make sure that it doesn't contain any silica as it will irritate the rays underbelly.
What kind of rays do you have or don't you know. Tecup is just a common name for the size of the ray.

ok, my worry was that my bigger ray likes to blow a lot of sand around and I have 2 eheim 2628's on my tank and I was worried about sand getting sucked up in them and ruining them. I will take a couple pictures of them and hopefully you guys can help me identify them.
Sand is cool for any ray, or none at al...I have black Thai sand.....Its more of the owners choice.....rays are happy as long as teh water is good and they have a full belly 
OK maybe I am thinking about this too much, I would rather have a bare bottom tank with a couple of powerheads keeping everything stirred up and clean, One thing about the sand that i am finding out that i dont like is that is gets everywhere and on everything and half the time the rays have so much sand on them that you really cant enjoy looking at them, but at the same time i know they live in sand in their natural state so it seems like that would be the right thing to do for them, or maybe they could care less ?? I am new at rays and I could really use some input from some of you guys/ladies that have a lot of experience with ray keeping. If i am going to have ray's i want to do whats best for them, not what's easy for me.
On a side note I have an arowana and a moray eel in with them, im thinking they could care less either way ?
One more thing I was talking to a guy at my lfs and he said he has a couple rays and he has a long bubble wall running in his tank, he said his rays love to play in the bubbles ? anyony ever done that of heard of that before ??
