I've been keeping fish for several years and it seems to me that catfish are the quickest to throw-up their meal when stressed. I am curious to know why that is. My rtc/tsn has done it a few times during a wc. My little rtc just did it today right after I shut the filters off for cleaning. So why would a fish that is scared of nothing, eats like a hog, has tried to bite me, and constantly nips at his tank mates be the one to throw up his supper?? Catfish are the only fish I've ever seen do this.

I would love to hear all opinions on this. Thanks all.

Its a natural reaction. In wild, when face with threats such as crocs, RTC would regurgitate their meal as the meal now serve as a burden. By tossing everything out, the RTC would be lighter and be able to swim much faster (higher chance of survival)

That makes sense. I've only noticed this behavior in catfish...Are catfish the only fish who exhibit this kind of defense mechanism??

I have seen my bichir went into panic mode and regurgite all the pellets when I vac my gravel
