What can you house polys with?? is it different with every species??

sorry if this is a noob question really want another one had a delhezi before in his own tank as i was too afraid to put anything else in there incase he ate it lol

Thanks

anything that doesnt nip other fish's fins (bichirs can be slow) and not small enough to fit in the bichir's mouth.

Basically i want a sort of predator community type thing

would this work

1 delhezi bichir
1 ornate bichir
1 black shark or redtailed black shark
1 medium sized pleco not sure on what sort yet probably a blue or green phantom
and 15 or so shoaling fish not sure what kind yet need some suggestions

I'm Currently switching to a south american set-up from an african set-up. the african wasn't a true one. but My Parrot cichlids nip a little bit. But only on the body which the polypterus doesn't feel because he sits in there for like 5 minutes. lol But to me if you get smaller or medium cichlids that are not aggressive to semi Aggresive. But if you want something big like a tiger oscar and you have the space try and get the fish smaller or the same size as the polypterus you have. So they can grow together.

forgot 2 jack dempseys from my list as i already have them they will be goin in the bigger tank :)

sounds fine. just make sure you have enough room and filtration for your stock.
