I've got this 5 inch jardini which i have questions about feeding and tankmates.

Tankmates first. I will be putting bichirs and clown knife in a 150 with it and was just wondering if i should start them all in the same tank at a relatively close size or should i buy the others at at least 4 inches larger, because most mfkers know for a fact that a beast can be tamed by a bigger beast. I think in my opinion that i should buy the others larger so that if the jardini goes on its infamous mean streak that the others will have a better chance of surviving before i can isolate the jardini and sell it to someone who actually wants a singled out one.

Feeding now. The jardini is currently in a 29G with a 5 inch ornate. I am currently feeding it freeze dried krill and trying to feed it Sera Arowana Pellets. I know for a fact that it eats the krill with almost no hesitation, but the aro pellets im not so sure of. all i know is that when i leave the room with a few in there, i re-enter with none in there. Is there a reason why it eats behind my back?

What would happen if he goes into an already established tank from a tank of just 2?

You should be good. Just add the jardini after all the others. Mine has opened his mouth once at my bichirs and that was cause the bichir was knkocking into him constantlly swimming at the glass. My jardini just don't like JD's. The datnoid I had would chase him once in a while but all was good. All jardini's are their own though.

Might be the bichir eating the pellets. Try some shrimp and tilapia too. The jardini will dive down and grab it off the floor. It's cool to watch. Oh and mine grabs up BW's like he hasn't ate in months.

My Jardini ate all his tankmates within 1 week, and I tried to put my 2 jars together they were ok for 1 hour then it was war. I separated them again and they are fine now all by themselves.

theres a difference between being tamed and being scared. I doubt the bichirs will do anything unless they can swallow the jar, and clown knives are usually also timid fish unless they are way bigger than the other fish.

The jar isnt going to do anything until it is at the 8-12" mark then you will find out if you found the jar with feelings :) or the jar that likes seeing other fish crowded in the corner :((which is around 99% of them)

i think you must start them at the same size... i think its better to put tankmates that are fast swimmers so they will survived like the silver dollars and loaches

This is underestimating the wit of the jardini. Those fish do not remain active all the time. They go on inactive period at night and I would not be surprised if your jardini suddenly attacks them. Forget the loaches. You cannot keep these perfectly with jardinis. Even with their sharp blades, they are still no match for the jardini.

imo jars are only aggressive because they want their own space cuz at melbourne aquarium theres like 5 massive ones with all sorts of fish like pacu silvers TSN barras and such and they are fine together sooo in an aquarium id keep a jar by itself unless its huge
