So i might pickup two red hook silver dollars tomorrow. My question is if the are in a 5 gallon bucket with an airstone a heater and the original tank water if they will be ok? They will be in there for about 7 hours. What do you think?

If transporting, the fish will be under stress and can foul the bucket water. Hopefully, they're not being fed today and tomorrow to reduce waste buildup. Using the original tank water is OK provided it has been well maintained. You're better off using 1/2 tank water and 1/2 fresh dechlorinated water that's temp matched. There'll be less ammonia and nitrates from the beginning of the trip.

ok i will try the 1/2 fresh water idea i have no ides how well his water is kepti will ask him to not feed them.

They will be sitting at a house while my dad watches a foot ball game so stress is minimal. Would a sponge filter help at all?

Only if it's already been seeded for a month in the same tank as the fish. Otherwise, it's just an oversize airstone.

would it help to do a double dose of prime? also thanks for the help its much appreciated!

Is there anything else i should know?

Make sure to keep the bucket away from any heat/ac that the car is running too. I'm gonna be making a 2 hour ride with my Chocolate cichlid and I'm worried, I can't imagine 7 hours. I do think it can be done tho....follow Oddball's instructions, he knows what he's talking about.
