Desperate stakes,
I have 2 clown loaches in my cichlid tank, Acara got ich, put in treatment no loaches for 2 days just found them looks like a white film allover them( best way to describe is like they loosing a layer of skin and sort of fungi looking) help do i leave them or dispose of humanly?

A fast response would be much appreciated.

sometimes they like to play dead....if they are still moving leave them and just treat the tank....if not moving flush.

If you have to put them down I put them in a bag of water and put them into the freezer.... I would use a deep freeze if you have one.

You could always try salt but it doesn't sound good

Clown Loaches are a very delicate fish , they don't take well to some meds.. sound like they are loosing the slime coat... try somthing with Aloe in it like Stress coat, dont kill them they might make it

When stressed by toxins loaches often replace their slime coats (so do eels and spiney eels) it looks like their skin is shedding.
If you have a small spare tank remove them to it and treat them with salt and heat (1 tablespoon/5 gallons water @ 82 F) make sure it is well areated. Watch for signs of ich, if they have it raise temp to 85 F at least then bring salt up to 2 tsp/gallon for ten days.
If you don't have a tank to do this in just add either stress coat or 1 tbsp salt/5 gallons to the tank they are in as it will help them recover a healthy slime coat.
