The CFS4 I ordered just came in today, the shipped price was $55, including media. This is the only canister filter I have ever had so I have nothing to compare it to so bear with me. As far as quality it was much better than I expected, especially considering the price. Seems to hold a ton of media, which is a plus. I did a quick flow test to see just how much the filter could put out. Flow test was how long it took to fill a 5 gallon container, filter was full of media and had ~2.5 ft of head pressure pushing the water through the filter. It took 1:44, which means the filter is moving around 175gph, half the advertised flow rate of 350gph. Through reading other forums I have found that generally canister filters flow 45-60% of the advertised so it seems to be on par. As far as noise my whisper 60 makes more noise than this filter, which once all the air is out of is almost completely silent. I have it on my 55g right now and it seams like more than enough.
