just a couple quick pics of one of my keeper Gml's living in my pond your can see more on that under the Pond forum here at MFK;)
If anyone is thinking of pond living for their FH I only recommend this if you have lighting on it as I do otherwise the pearling could wash out over time:eek::D
as for this one pearling well he got that on lock down lol:headbang2

this is also one of my breeds gml:)

when there isn't sufficient light FHs tend to lose their color
that is what i understood

I know that various color spectrum of lights highlight certain colors in fish, but I would not think that without lights a fish could actually lose its color. I would think it would be more like when our fish are sleeping or the light has been out in a dark room and their patterns lighten and fade a bit.

cool pond i wish i had one (that is an indoor pond)

headbanger_jib you are correct that is what I meant

I am talking about over time
and yes they will and do lose the coloration and possible pearl
this is why releasing them in the wild is a stupid idea, because generations down the road you will have fish looking back like a Trimac
also this big dogs in Thailand and Malaysia
when they pond raise the fish the color is washed out. Now it comes back after a while once put in a tank with nice lighting. This was just a suggestion if anyone was thinking of trying this especially if we were talking about an indoor set up. Out door you are a bit better off so long as the pond is not to deep. The deeper the less sun penetration. You have to remember flowerhorn were designed my man for beauty and have no natural habitat. They are supposed to be pampered in the aquarium. In the wild they would have no need for the bright colors we all like and over time would revert back to duller colorations

how big is the pond and how many fish are there
