Here's a quick video of my 340 gallon during a water change, hence the cloudy water and almost all the fish being in the corner.

Tankmates are 2 koi (training the gar onto pellets, 3 gar (I think they are all Floridas), 1 Dorado, 1 indo Pacific tarpon, 1 wallago leeri, and 1 temensis peacock bass (with 1-2 more being picked up Sunday night). I also have an endlicheri bichir and a clown knife fish in a growout, but they are tiny still.

Yup, they're only in there to help train the gar onto pellets. As soon as the 3 all eat pellets, then the koi go back in the pond. I've had great success using koi to train others onto pellets. They also do a great job cleaning up after the gar.

Well I added some tankmates today. A 20" silver arowana, a 22" clown knife fish, and a 12" Polypterus bichir bichir. Tomorrow I'm picking up a kelberi bass. After these guys I'm adding 2 rays and the tank is done. I also added 40 rosy red minnows, 40 small comets, 50 guppies, and 5 crayfish today as a treat. I guess I'll see how many are left when I get home in the morning

I've been keeping an eye on him and so far he's pretty good. As long as I have minnows and or comets swimming around he doesn't really bother anyone else. If he does start to go after anybody too bad though he can go in the sump. A 150 gallon rubbermaid with lots of emergent plants and some water hyacinth should make a pretty decent short term home. Tons of flow down there to keep the Dorado happy. So far he and the tarpon are best buddies. They never leave each other's sides.

From what I understand from having a little fella that is about 7.5 inch is that in a blink of an eye they can shred a tank

That seems to be a lot of the fish we like to keep. My old motor ray ate all her tankmates, except the male, who she regularly beat up, I had a pair of red devil's who were cowards and never protected their fry, and I had a pair of red devils who would destroy anything else in a 6' 180 gallon. My point is every fish is different and a little risk sometimes has great payoff. When this tank was saltwater I had 3 triggerfish in with a ton of little fish. One was a niger trigger. He wouldn't even give a second glance at the little guys. I even had a cleaner shrimp in with him. He was 10" long. My old niger trigger snapped at 4" long and killed all his tankmates except a lunare wrasse. Big or little it didn't matter, he killed them all.
