My air pumps on my tanks are loud. I have them wrapped in towels, but the vibration can still be heard around the house.

I have two topfin and one petco brand. What type are you guys/gals using? Are there any tricks?

Hello; One trick I have used is to suspend an air pump so that it does not touch anything. I have used rubber bands but that can eventually lead to the rubber band failure. One way to avoid this is to make a loop in the power chord and hook it on something so that it will catch the pump when the rubber band fails.

I have found that soft foam under or around a pump will sometimes do better than cloth.

The most recent trick I have tried is to put the air pump in the basement and run a long air line up thru a hole in the floor. This has worked well for a few weeks. I hung the pump on a nail under the floor joist. Of course it wont help if you do not have a basement or some such room.
