Just double checking, I'm going away soon and my dad doesn't want to deal with my saltwater tank getting algae blooms and not very nice water in general.
So, I have a normal fluorescent strip that I've heard encourages algae growth..So, I wanted to start a soft coral reef anyway, of course when I get back, (in six weeks), so http://www.aquatraders.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=52303&CartID=1 I'm sure I asked about this fixture before, but this would be an acceptable light for a soft coral reef, and well...better than the one I have now. Correct?

Secondly is, I need more flow.
I was thinking of a hydor koralia 240 to start with, and then later on adding another one since my dad doesn't want to spend a whole bunch of money right now on my tank.
That sound alright to you guys?
Faster response is appreciated. :)

The light and powerhead should be fine depending on your aquarium size. How big is your aquarium?

Damn. Can't believe I missed that. 36 gallons.

Yeah, that's the exact length actually.
Alright. That's great! My dad just came to me and told me to bring the items up so he could order them.
This is out of nowhere from a month of nagging him :screwy:

Hah yeah. It was just a bit random, that's all

Right. Got the powerhead today. I got the 425 model, and its working fine.
I was just thinking though...What should I do? 36 gallon? Or the 10 gallon?
Opinions anyone ?

I've heard that old ( a year or more) fluorecents can cause algae blooms - I don't buy it - it doesn't work that way. The real problem is spectrum range, in time bulbs loose intensity and when you have photo-feeding life the lose of the higher ranges makes said life unable to reproduce or feed. Also coraline life needs even higher ranges for ultra violet radiation to help it process calcium.
