I found these looking on homedepot site, The outlet has one controlled outlet from the remote below. The other outlet on it is static and 'on' all the time. The remote will allow upto 16 devices.

I'm thinking about getting a remote and a few outlets, so I can remote control my lights and pump. This way I wouldn't have to get bend over to shut the pump off when I feed, it would remove 2 electrical boxes from my setup also. Then there's always the possibility of setting up my other tanks like this, just get more outlets!

My only question is, does anyone know how well something like this will work after a GFCI? will they pop my GFCI's all the time? Let me know what you all think!

Control all the lights in the house with one remote Works within 100feet of outlet

  • Adds ON and OFF control to receptacles
  • Top outlet controlled - For use with 1800 W or 15 amps
  • Bottom Outlet static for standard use
  • Fits standard wiring boxes
  • Up to 100 ft transmission range
  • Selectable coding allows the use of multiple units in the same location

This should not affect the operation of your GFCI at all. Just have your GFCI installed closest to your source, and everything downstream of it will be protected.

I would be scared to death to use something like that IMO. I have other pets (stupid dogs) and have kids as well. I would be afraid one of them would shut something off like the pump etc... on accident and me not know about it. My dogs have stopped more than one movie in the past by stepping on my remote while I was outside.

Im going to homedepot tomorrow to check these units out and most likely setting one up. It will be great for many more applications than just use in my aquaria.

I agree, It's not something you keep on your coffee table with your other remotes,
