John Bobbit died today.
Not the weiner guy.
John Bobbit was my old male Avicularia Versicolor.
He got his name from the last female that he bred with. She ripped off both his pedipalps (short pair of "legs" that tarantulas use for mating and food handling)
He died from natural causes.
I am drying out his body for preservation and framing, is that strange?

lol! sorry dude, my condolences. really cool looking spider, post pics after the framing. and really cool name bro!

Sorry to hear that. Versicolor is one of my favorite T's (the only one of mine I can handle without peeing myself). I hope that I get a pair out of my group. It would be fun to breed them. Did yours produce any offspring?

ya very cool looking sorry to hear it dired, how did it die

Yeah, we got a ton of spiderlings this year at work. I'm starting my own colony w/ 12 1.5" babies. I'll post some pics of the babies, they are very cool and blue stripey.

John Bobbit died of old age, he was about 8 months in to his last molt.

how much are spiders like that
