Sadly, my curious female senegal bichir has died. She swam into a syphon hose and must have been stuck snout first for about an hour. I made the tragic mistake of not being present.
What makes this doubly sad is she was part of a mated, breeding pair. I only got one brood from them (i didn't even know there were babies).
The male has been looking for her constantly for the last few days, non stop swimming around and going into every nook and cranny. Interesting behaviour.
They've been together for 6 years.
the first pic you barely see them under the tank mates. the following 3 pics are when i discovered the babies (pictured at 2") i found em under the tree stump and quickly moved them to a seperate tank. they all sold within a week. I imagine they had more babies but i only found 22....not bad in a tank full of predators.
