Is it bad to only use ro water when you do water changes? I have a 200+ gallon tank. I have a 55 gallon tank that my ro fills, then when its full i change the big tank. All the fish are doing great, just wondering if its bad to do. My tap water is bad.

Pretty sure it's great for the fish, but can be harmful to your plants because it removes many trace minerals they need to thrive. There are a bunch of additives you can purchase to supplement the water though.

RO water only is not a good idea; your water will have very low buffering capacity and TDS. Better to reconstitute the water with additives, as BMThomps84 mentioned.

Many just use a 50/50 mix of tap and ro. If your tap water isn't in the 'terrible' range you can do that. Is your tap from a privately owned well or municipal water?
