There are many many many things that I find so very satisfying about my passion for pets.

Yet, I must say that there is one thing that tops my list when it comes to my cohabitating friends. My number one thing that tops the list for me is this.

TO HAVE SOMETHING THAT I HAVE NUTURED FROM A WEE ONE TO A MATURE ONE :).

Sure it is nice to be able to buy a top notch specimen, or rehome someone elses, but nothing tops growing your own. So I wanted to post a thread that deals specifically with fish that I have grown myself either from a tiny purchase or from my own breeding programs.

My 55g electric blue johani were all purchased as 1-2 inch fry, my bleekeri small spots same. I have a colony of macaw juvi that I purchased as a lot of 1 inch fry from the person whos pair made them all he just wanted them out of his tank.

I will have to take some pics of the ones I have grown to put in this thread will do that later just wanted to get the thread started.

Well here are a couple of pics of one of my babies who has babies, I decided to net out the fish holding so that I could actually sell some of the fry rather than just leaving them in the tank to get eaten. also have wanted to try to catch the whole fry coming out of the mouth shot for some time

I'm most satisfied when I rescue a fish then nurse it back to health. Problem is I get attatched to them and don't want to let them go after the're healthy. Thats where my MTS starts.

you know more people are gonna put mmm bacon then no.

i picked no because i cant be satisfied until i have a 125gal for my oscar :(
and also, i'll never be satisfied that i can't have piranhas here.. if only they let at least serrasalmus / pristobycron sp? here... otherwise, i can never be satisfied :(. and no bichirs either!!... :( :(

all you people who can obtain piranhas/bichirs/wolf fish/ payara/ stingrays/ lung fish/gars/ snakehead don't take it for granted or underapreciate it!! even if u could buy one and don't you got no clue how it feels if you CANT...

all the tanks i own spell "i wish i had piranhas" and "i wish i had bichirs" all over them!!

Can we put "yes" and "mmm bacon"? Or just one? Jk.
I gotta agree with you, nothint beats raising fish up from fry.

I like bacon too..

retuks.. we always want what we can't have. But truth be told I adore all of my fish from my cherry shrimp and cardinal tetra planted tank to my "monster" grow out tank. Sure I wish i could have a snakehead, but I can not. So I got bichirs which I can have and adore the two of them. "but they're not snakeheads" doesn't cross my mind. because if I could have snakeheads I probably would have never gotten a bichir to begin with. That and they where a rescue of sorts ;) But I am glad I did get them.

I like seeing fish grow from wee babied to adults. But for me the most satisfying part of this hobby is seeing happy, healthy fish, being fish. all of my fish have personalities some different then others. But each individual is unique even within species.

If people spent as much time with their fish as they do with their dogs or cats. More people would have them. They may not purr or bark, but they do interact with their owners given the chance.
