"A Jehovah's Witness has escaped a jail term after admitting a series of sexual assaults on children and adults in Clevedon.

Michael Porter, of Okehampton Close, north London, admitted 24 counts of indecent assault and gross indecency on 13 victims aged 18 months and older.
Among the individuals were others involved in the faith.
Judge Tom Crowther at Bristol Crown Court sentenced Porter to three years of community rehabilitation.
The judge opted not to jail Porter after hearing he had undergone therapy and was a changed man.
He was banned from working with anyone under the age of 18 and put on the Sex Offenders Register.
But Porter's sister, Tina Hughes, said: "I am absolutely disgusted. He should not have walked free."

Ack, i can't believe people can get away stuff like this, the justice system in this country is really going to sh*t. This is just appalling.

I don't care whether he's a "reformed" man or not, prison is supposed to be a punishment and this guy should be severely punished for his crimes!
I mean, he admitted sexually abusing children as young as 18months old?! This guy should be castrated, not just so he can never have children of his own, but because he doesn't deserve the right to call himself a "man".



How can a guy who steals money get 2 years in prison, while a man who has sexually abused dozens of children and adults alike and messed up their lives forever etc not get any prison sentence at all?

Should be off the streets for good, and I'm sure any parent would say face of the earth.
Brings up a few points... minority ruling... and exceptions made for them. Law is for everyone regardless of faith/culture/background, end of.

Prison being a punishment... thats a joke. The news yesterday saw a brand new prison that was just finished being built. Policewoman said "the facilities are great, I'm sure the inmates will be very happy here". Sorry since when was it a ******* hotel? They are releasing high profile cons (murders, rapists etc. many repeat offenders may I add) due to "crowded" prisons and so the more minor offenders can do their short stint. I know what I'd do.

Also how can child offenders be "reformed". It is a preference like being straight, or someone being a ***, it's not something you can change in someone IMO.

Ahwell all is well with gun crime being combated so affectively... our governments on it

I don't think they should die. No, i think they should be locked up in prison for their entire lives and made to sit there in misery and pay for what they have done, they should be worked to a bone and not get payed any money, they should be allowed to see family and friends every month, but only so they will constantly have to face up to the fact that they can never be free or enjoy the privalges of a free man ever again.

I totally agree, i don't believe paedophiles can be reformed either (you can't make a *** man straight, so you can't make a peadophile attracted to women/men of the legal age to have sex with etc)...Which is why i think they should never be let out of prison. Its appalling that so often they are let out of prison after just a couple of years and go on to re-offend on some poor innocent child.


IMHO, i think prisoners should be forced to work in prison to help pay for their stay, not only are our prisons too enjoyable to be in for prisoners, but we (the honest, hard working, law abiding tax payers) have to pay to keep these prisoners in jail for their crimes. No, i say we should make prisoners work while they are in prison and pay for their own damn meals and beds- no more need for personal gyms and playstations, all they need is to be is worked to the bone while in prison and they will have plenty of excercise and stuff to keep them fit and mentally occupied .

I WHOLE heartedly agree with you there. They can bloody well pay for themselves. Why would I want to pay to keep them alive at all. Instead of screwing LDCs with cheap labour, I've got a whole lot in prisons instead... let them break rocks or something.

Totally agree, plus by making prisoners work to pay for their stay in prison, it should help reform them better for when they are finally realised and go back into society, they won't be able to use the old excuses like "i had a bad childhood so i was forced to be a criminal" etc if they have been doing legal work absolutely fine during their stay in prison.
IMHO, i'm an honest believer in the way of thinking that there are few people who cannot do any kind of work at all, and that a large majority of people on benefets or doing crime can actually work and do a legal job.

In WW2, solidiers were able to set up POW camps in under a month, all you needed was some barbed wire and electric fencing, some huts, running water, and a few soliders to oversee the prisoners.

Instead of releasing prisoners back into society because there isn't enough space in prison, we should be setting up temporary prison camps.
Who care's if the prisoners don't have double glazed windows and gardens etc, as long as they aren't freezing their asses off and have food to eat and are kept in a secure place, then thats all that is needed to make a prison- it really shouldn't be that difficult for the government to set up cheap secure prisons.

I would be happy enough if the government stopped building new houses in this country for a year for the general public to buy, so it could concentrate its efforts on building prisons- i wouldn't mind living in a society where no one could afford a house until they were middle aged, if only so i knew i could walk down the street at any time of the day and knew that i wasn't at risk of getting raped/mugged/stabbed/beaten etc by some random criminal who was being allowed to walk the streets in free society because there aren't enough prisons to keep such people away from us etc.

Either way though, i honestly don't believe that this country doesn't have the money to build prisons, it probably does, but all the money is being spent and lost on less important stuff. But if the above scenario was all it took to build more prisons in this country, i would be a lot happier.
