MTS (malaysian trumpet snails) I never new I had them untill I moved my puffer to a hospital tank for a bacterial infection and BAM with in a week full blown MTS invasion of my tank.. and we had wondered how he was surviving because he never ate his feeders for over sixmonths he was living off of the mts.. now ofcourse I only have a 6"target puffer so you would need more food than mine needs

I'm not sure how AZ is, but here in FL I just scooped up some fish from a local pond. Turns out I scooped up some ramshorn snails. I pulled 25 out of my tank about 2 weeks ago and I just pulled another 20 out today.

Scuds, red ramshorn snails, and common pond snails.

Red cherry shrimp also breed fairly fast. So do wild ramshorn snails, pond snails, scuds. Keep snails in a separate tank! They are very hard to get rid of once you have them.

Ghost shrimp are easy to breed too. How big is your Mbu? You may want to look into purchasing lots of crayfish. Oddball breeds crayfish. My figure 8s love crays, pond snails, and ghost shrimp.
