I was going to make my stand out of 2 by 4 but it actually worked out cheaper using non toxic, home safe, pressure treated 4 by 8 railway sleepers which they even cut to size for me.
Stands nearly done just need to add the doors.

That's awesome :)

Nice job on it

Thanks, I am one of those people who cannot cut a straight line or even put a screw in straight to save my life, me and diy really don't mix.
I am pretty happy how it's turned out so far, for me

My dad's side of the family has DIY written all over it. I have a lathe in the garage from my great granddad even

Are you sure it will take the weight of your tank, looks a bit flimsy to me!!!!! Haha that is a beast of a stand, looks nice too.

I would love to see the finished article when you're done, I'm currently looking into doing something like this myself for a custom tank, so I'm very interested in this!

If you don't mind me asking, what tank size is it, and how much did it cost roughly to build? (I'm UK too)

Sarah.

The stand is 195cm l 73cm w 70cm high.
The railway sleepers cost me £70 cut to size, plywood for the top and boxing in came to £20 when I priced up using 2 by 4 it worked out about £100 plus plywood
Still not quite finished, I need to put the doors on and do a few other bits here and there.

Looking good, and that's a fantastic price. What a bargain! I will watch this thread with interest to see it finished. Lovely tank by the way!
