Hey guys is it ok for rain water coming from my roof going I to my fish tank? Should I make a cover for my fish tank?

I wouldn't worry about the rain water itself but I would worry about what's running off the roof in the water. Pesticides etc.

Your roof probably releases some elements from the roof itself regardless of construction. There are only a few materials used that will prevent this, and they are mostly used on islands that have no water source instead of importing water.

Hello; Rain water collection should probably have a diverter that allows the first minutes of rain to be directed away from the holding containers. I found a link to such a commercial product a while back and will post it again if i can find it.

Why? Roofs are dirty and many shingles now have chemicals that help prevent mold and moss growth which would potentially transfer in small amounts to the water in your tank.

I use rain water, but have a barrel that first catches the solids and other impurities, then empties into another barrel. The 2nd barrel overflows into my pond, during times of heavy rain.
I use the 2nd barrel to age logs.
