Soo... anyone on here have one of these guys? Care to share photos or info about your rainbow boa? I may be picking up one of these guys soon, curious whats on here! :D

Thanks!

I used to work with 1.2 breeders of Columbians and Brazillians. They were great feeders, manageable in size, and after shedding, simply breath taking in natural sunlight. You have to keep them at the right temp and humidity, and give them a good sized water bowl. The six we had weren't wonderful to handle, but that wasn't our goal.

They aren't corn snakes or ball pythons, but if you can make the commitment, they aren't unreasonable (like a green anaconda) for someone your age.

Epicrates cenchria species are some of the most gorgeous snakes in the world - just remember to give them access to a humid hide-box with some damp peat moss inside, particularly when undergoing ecdysis (shedding).

Cheers!

I'm eager to add a snake to my "family" and I'm quite sure it will be a Rainbow Boa when I do so. Thus I've done a ton of reading in preparation.

From what I've learned humidity is the biggest challenge with them.

As mentioned, they aren't as easy to "tame" as Balls or Corns, but they aren't the most difficult to handle either. Honestly they seem to be a great snake as they require the handler to be knowledgeable and aware, but are handlable by someone who is knowledgeable and aware.

They get "big" but not enormous. Years ago I raised a Red Tail Boa and learned that an 8' snake is a lot of snake to handle and maintain. The 4~7' range of the Rainbows will be much more manageable.

As with any pet, my best advice is to read read read... then experience experience experience...

Good choice I might add!
