Rainbow cichlid colors

So, rainbows come in red, orange, and yellow. I’m curious, are they bred for this, or is it based on catch location? Or are they just a mixed bag where all have a chance of developing red, orange, or yellow with age regardless of what the parents look like?

believe its catch location as there are bluer ones as well

Mine are very yellow until spawning notions kick in and then the lower half turns a very dark blue, almost black.
