i just acquired a used lifeguard Fluidized Bed Filter , and it looks pretty nasty on the inside . how can i clean it out and sanitize it for future use on a new tank? and would i even benefit from using it on a 135gl fresh water setup? Thanks in advance

what I have done was take off the inlet and outlet caps and rinse well with hot water and replace the media when you are done its not that expensive you could use bleace but rinse very well!

would work for fresh water i hear vinager works well for cleaning too on tanks/ filters just put media in it hook it up it will work good

fluidized bed filters are supposed to be like the best from what i hear im getting one soon for my new project

Ive had two rainbow lifegard on my tank for a couple of years they work great just adjust the valve on top and leave it no maintenance

only problem so far is the o-ring on the adj knob leaked alittle. but i fixed that with a few wraps of teflon tape:thumbsup:
