:) hi my sand filter has just broke down sprung a leak i have a six foot tank with a fx 5 on it can i get away with not replacing it it was a rainbow lifeguard filter whats your opinion? it was running for about 3 years if i can get away with just the fx5 i will please help i have an 24inch arrowanna a giant gourami and a couple of large cat fish:headbang2

Your FBF sprung a leak? Can't you just seal it with silicone?

I'd be careful in the mean time. FBF's have a lot of surface area.

Peanut i wouldn't chance it for long i'm running a fx5 as well and i don't think its enough i want to put a fluidized bed filter on the tank as well. i have one on my other tanks and they are great so i want one on my big tank as well.
The fx5 wont move the water i want it to no mater what i take out of it.

If you go to a pluming supply store they have special plumers glue, you put that over the crack and then get a pipe patch which is a rubber sleeve that you can put over the crack and tighten the pipe clamps. Should be fine
