Rainbow snakehead

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
We're not allowed to keep snakeheads in the states, so unfortunately I can't help with suggesting suitable tankmates. However I did move your thread to the Snakehead section so it'll hopefully get a few answers from those who do know.

No tankmates.

Sneakheads either kill them, or die because they feel insecure.

Most people will advise you not to keep other fish with snakeheads. They can be nasty when mature and end up killing tank mates. If your tank is quite large, you may be able to keep robust fish as tank mates. Something that's big enough to avoid being eaten, but small enough not to pressure the snakeheads into being defensive. I have seen snakeheads in mixed communities before, but they don't always thrive. The only success I have had is with plecos and polyopterus senegalus. But there's no guarantee your snakeheads will get along with any tanks mates. Some fish like a few silver dollars or a small gourami may work, but there's no guarantees with predatory fish.

Better keep ur rainbow alone , if u really want to add some thing add some groumis( I have kept them together for several month) but with pearl or honey groumis I also peace fully have four rainbow with large barbs and puntis denisonni but in a decent size tank ,in wild they off course live with some other fishes around
