Is it possible for the 2 to live comfortably in a 55 Gallon together? They both grow to about the same size (The bichir should get a little bigger) the rainbow SH grows to 8 inchs around there from what ive read and the Senegal gets around 10-12 inchs, should i be worried about the Bichir eating the SH because Bichirs eat fish smaller then them but i dont think it would be able to fit the SH in its mouth but i could be wrong...

Thanks,
Spencer

I personally would not keep the two fish together. The senegalus is more likely to outgrow the bleheri at a much faster pace and eventually may eat your bleheri. Honestly, even if both are similar in size, I would still be cautious of the senegalus feeding on the rainbow. Bichirs are notoriously known for cramming fish, more than half their size into their mouths and eating them! :uhoh: So be warned and GL!

well i've known these two to get on really well, bichirs are not as bad as people say! Although if your worried what about a reedfish(ropefish) you def wouldn't have to worry about it eating your sh,the best thing to do is give it a try as all fish are different,i've kept a couple of species of bichir and found them to be ok with fish over 4" or so,or you could sub the bleheri for a gachua or a stewartii as they grow a bit bigger(8" +10") respectively good luck:)
