Hi MFK i'm yet again asking about another species of fish. So recently my LFS which is amazing, is getting in a new SA american shipment with tons of great fish I wish I could have them all! but sadly can't but here are two that stood out for me. Recently i became a huge pike cichlid fan and want one. but sadly the only ones are lents i've seen and they grow to big and are a little too expensive (between $50-$100) for me at this time. But! my lfs is getting some crencichla proteus which are quite small to compared to others right? and i'm also a fan of anything predatory and oddball but at this time i dont have any monster tanks. But again they are also getting rainbow wolfish (ERYTHRINUS ERYTHRINUS "RIO ITAYA") which my research has told me that they are small and can go with other fish despite the wolfish name. So my question is can these two go together? if not what can the wolf fish go with them and which one would you choose if you had to decide? Also if so if you have any further advice for them and pics/ videos/ experiences always helps. I hope to be getting some depending on what price they come in at thanks every and anybody :D:headbang2

My female proteus hammers the snot out of anything ti try and keep her with. but shes been a killer since I got her. Very aggressive lil' thing.. but absolutely gorgeous fish. depending what size tank you have I'de say get a pair and do a nice low-tech planted set-up for them. don't know much about the wolffish.. but i'e heard the rainbows are pretty chill.. so I wouldn't do the mix personally.

Okay thanks for the input. I forgot to say my tank is a 70g.

my rainbow wolf is an absolute head case, had him in a 125 with 2 oscars and had to move him to his own 40 because he was gashing up the oscars, turned out to be a good decision, since the move he has become a lot more calm and interactive

Mine was awesome with smaller fish unless they got tough with him. But they really are better community fish when in a much bigger tank or just alone. Hey gary I sent u pm

Wouldn't make much of a community fish if it's alone :p Also sounds like the wolf fish is hit more like most fish :p I guess the deciding factor is the PRICE and both are expected to be quite small the wolf at 3.5" and pike 2.5" guess i'll have to pick one or get another tank....... So thanks for all the feed back keep it coming plz!

I think it could work for a while. I have 2 proteous females, they are a bit nasty but they do not hunt tankmates down and kill them, they like to flex their muscle that is all. They do stay much smaller than lenticulatas, which I also keep and would make u happy if you kept just a pair in 75 by themselves. I didn't have problems w/ my rainbow woldfish and cichlids, but mine only had 1 eye and I traed him off when cichlids started spawning because it could have been problematic. I say go for it, just don't over crowd them w/ too many other tank mates.
