Hey people, bought two rainbows a few months ago now at about 3.5". They ate like monsters jumping from the tank and bitting my hand. I fed them once/twice a day 6 days a wk on a mix of muscles, prawns and bloodworm.
I went on hol for 2wks and my dad looked after them but only feeding every other day. I have been back now a month they are about 5" but they dont really eat! I have not seen the male eat since i have been home and the female really touches anything, only small amounts of bloodworm. They are not thin but not as stocky as they were, also there colour is good.
The temp is 21oc the tank is filtered, planted and has hinding places. ph6.8 and 40% weekly water changes.
Is this normal or can i coax them somehow to start feeding again?
Thanks Jay

hi mate at the 5 inch size i would knock them down to every otherday now anyway , but one thing there not really keen on is large freequent water changes , they do prefer older water , to be honest i would only change around 25% every month (your tanks planted so nitrate ect will be kept in check and swap to feed only every other day , and see how it goes

cheers col
