I hate low lying fish tanks...I just got a stand for my 150 that only sits 24 inches tall. I'm thinking of building an 8 inch platform (at least) for it to sit on so the tank can be a little closer to eye level. Anybody do this succesfully? The bottom base of the existing stand is only 4 inches wide all around so I was thinking of keeping my life simple and framing out two 4x4's bases then stacking and securing them together. I'd then skin the bottom and stain to match.....sound good?

That is pretty much what I am planning on doing to a 125 stand that I have. I need to make it a bit taller to work with my central system. Just build a frame and attach it underneath. I won't be finishing it as it is in the fish room, but skinning the stand/platform should be easy enough.
