would it be okay to decorate my fry growout tank or would the dovii fry claim little territories and be a higher chance of losing some. or should i just go with a bare tank to raise them??

Both ways work. I have plants and large lava rocks in my grow out tank and I've had it bare. There wasn't much difference. I prefer a decorated tank personally. Keep them in a big tank and keep the numbers high. With fish like dovii once they hit 2-3" they will start picking off the weaker ones. This is a good thing. They will weed them out to some extent for you. Good luck. My umbee fry grow out tank is a 110. Much smaller and you success rate and bio load won't be as positive.

okay perfect thanks alot. how long is it safe to leave the the fry with the parents? and will they kill them once theyre ready to spawn again? lol sorry for all the questions first time raising this many fry i dont know what to do with them all

I usually pull several net fulls a week or two after they become free swimming. They are easy to catch at this stage and most of my pairs breed every 3-4 weeks. And yes most pairs will kill off the older fry when they are ready to spawn. Make sure when you do pull some to leave quite a few as if they all disappear the male often blames the female. No bueno.

will do, thanks again.

One more question. Te parents seem to have lost a lot of their color. Not sure if it's because they're stressed or what. And the female seems I barly be eating just guarding the fry relentlessly. Is this normal?
