Whats the best way to raise fry from fish that arnt mouth bordes is it better to seperate them from the parents or leave them in and what fry foods have you had the highest survival rate with?

most cichlids are very maternal and dont eat them! there shouldnt be a problem besides the other fish in the tank eating them!     i dont kno what kind of cichlid you are talking about.

for foods it also matters what cichlid it is some the parents take care of them well enough they find stuff to eat! like convict parenst turn up gravel for the fry to eat and show them where algae is for them to eat yoo!   :popcorn:   :popcorn:

like firemouths but i mean is it bad to take them from the parents like do the fry need there parents

This isn't fire mouth spefic info but for cichlids you can just get some of the small rocks you use for gardening at a home improvement store. they are roundish river rock smaller than a 1/2" each(not the white ones)....the fry will hide it this and be safe, they will only peek out for food. Ive seen plenty survive this way.

ok im going to breed firemouths so ill trie that but whats the best way to feed fry in a tank with other fish will the parents let the fry get food

i mean how to do it so all the other fish don't eat the food first

you could crush your pellets or flakes and feed it to them, adult fish usually wont bother with powdered food unless they are small themselvs.parent fish will usually teach the babies to forage for food.if you have any other fish in the tank, other than your breeders, you might want to move them if you still want them.firemouthes are aggressive fish,so it would be best to leave the breeding pair in a separate tank.

hmm so would other cichlids in the tank be in danger if thay breed in like a 4 foot tank
