Ram sex

Ok maybe not the best title, but it got your attention. There are a bunch of German rams at one of my LFSs and I can't figure out which one is a female. They are all quite pale. Any fool proof ways to figure this out?

the females have pink on their sides and the males tend to get longer dorsal spikes (the first few black ones)

females will have a purple/red color in their abdomen area.

Males have elongated first and second dorsal spine



Females have pink on the belly

Also look at the black dot on their side.
Females tend to have blue speckling in them where the males have solid black.

All the pictures of ram tanks that I've seen have the most colorful fish when its a male and female. Breeding, maybe. Something that looks great, for sure.
