Hello- I'm not sure if this is in the right spot... but has anyone seen or know of these two types of gobiiiiiiis ?

My fish store has them available but I cant find any info on them on the web ...

Thanks !

rambaii goby is a googlewack:)

the names rambaii and kanu could just be names that the store owner has given them. or even of where they where caught. ive seen fish under one name one week, and under another the week after.

either that or they could be rare as feck. and are unheard of in fishkeeping.

if you can get a pic. some one will be able to ID them for you...

this page says they are freshwater, but i have no idea of its reliabillity, or of its origin. it says Dragon gobies are freshwater. but they are high end brackish. so i dont know if i would trust it. well what 'info' there is

I RAISE GOBIES ANDTHEY ARE BRACKISH TO SALT. NO TRUE FRESHYS

Actually, there are true freshwater gobies. They are less common than the brackish and saltwater gobies, but they're out there. In fact, the Australian desert goby (and its relatives) live in freshwater pools. The reason they survive just as well with salt is because the salinity in these pools fluctuates a lot. If they can't adapt, they die. So, they adapted.

Isn't that spam?

Pictures would be really good for helping us ID the gobies. You also should tell us how large they are. It would also help a lot if your LFS owner could tell you where they are from.
If you're going to buy them before they're ID'd it would probably be best to keep them in a brackish tank with a sandy bottom. Feed live or frozen foods and provide some form of shelter (caves, tubes, heavy plant cover...). Those are the basics of brackish or "freshwater" goby requirements.

my lfs has a strange fish that is about 6" and they are telling me it is some breed of goby...i'm not convinced, and if i can get a pic of it tomorrow, can someone plz help me identify this fish? idk if i'll buy it, but it's bothering me not knowing what it is. hopefully i can get some answers =]

Look at its ventral fins. If they are fused to resemble a suction cup, then it is a goby. If it looks like a goby but lacks the fused ventrals, then it's probably a gudgeon. A lot of the time gudgeons are called gobies. Peacock gobies, sleeper gobies, and wasp gobies are all gudgeons.
I'll try to help you if you get the pic. A view from the fish's side is best.
