I have a 120g tank with 1 H. Carpintis, a dwarf pleco, and a striped rafael. Ive always had some ramhorn snails in my gravel but they were never a problem. The only time I would see them was when I would come home at night and the lights were off, there would be a few, 10 - 20 or so on the glass. Now theres 20 on the glass when the lights are on! Last when the lights were off, there were like 50 adult snails and hundreds of small larval snaiils. What do I do to get rid of them?? Is there anything that can be done?? I tried leaving some veggies in there for them to congregate on but they dont seem to like veggies. Any help is greatly appreciated....

clown loaches or assassin snails

Might you be interested in adding some clown loaches to your tank?

I like clown loaches but I dont like to keep fish from Asia with fish from SA/CA. Dont ask why, its just me. Do you know of any snail eating species from South America??

Rapheals love to eat snails at least my megaladoras and spotted do. Maybe turn your one rapheal cat into three or four ;)

I just might do that.... I think that Im going to hafta do a substrate change and boil my driftwood to eliminate eggs and larvae...:irked:

I know you're alittle aposed to the idea, but I'll just go ahead and say; clown loaches LOVE to eat snails. Alittle bit of aquarium salt might help too.

my 2 cents worth

Leave the snail eggs, dont think they do larva, more free food for the rapheals.

My bad, I forgot that ramhorn snails are livebearers . I think that I read that somewhere. So I just hafta get rid of all the adults and the larvae.
