Rams and Tigers

How big is your tank? How many rams and tiger barbs do you have? What species of rams do you have? Any other fish with them?
I currently have, in a 50 gal (uk) 48x18x15 tank:
5 x torpedo barbs
6 x tiger barbs
1 x bn plec
1 x ruby shark
2 x rainbowfish
2 x gourami
3 x albino corys
I'm willing to tweak the stocking and maybe lose the gouramis if necessary. Id like to get a pair of rams, or maybe a betta - something quite eye-catching.
What do you think?

Remove the tiger barbs if you want a betta. What species are your gouramis? The only gouramis that would work well with bettas are pearl gouramis. Honey gouramis could have worked but they tend to be very timid and may not cope with the bettas well.
If you opt to go with either blue rams and Bolivian rams, watch your ruby shark carefully. It's the issue, not the tiger barbs.

I think I'll go for a pair of german blues. My shark is fairly placid at the moment, I know he may get more fiesty with age so I'll keep an eye on him.
