After losing my clown loaches to ich last spring my planted tank has become infested with snails. Is there a safe way to get rid of them? I’m planning to move forward with a medium SA community tank with 20 geo sveni I’m growing out and potentially some F1 altums from Wes Wong. Is there an appropriate fish that will take care of the snails that would be biotope corrrct?

Get a bristlenose pleco, that's what I did and the snails disappeared kind of quickly. Just my advice because it worked for me.

My BNs dont seem to bother my snails but thats alright by me. An ecosystem is made up of more than just fish. I find the snails benificial in my systems so I leave them be. As long as there is not alot of wasted food their numbers stay stable.

Just feed less and they will disappear to manageable levels.

hello; These statements are correct in my experience. I had bad overpopulations of snails back in the 70's. Figured out how to get the over feeding in check and have enjoyed the benefit of having them since.
Too many snails = too much excess food in the tank. Simple as that. Get rid of the snails will leave that excess food to rot. Better to have it pass thru a snails gut.
